The term “Vegan” has been a buzz lately with more people being conscious about the welfare of animals and the environment. Vegan skincare is either plant based or synthetically produced using plant origin ingredients.
Vegan skincare does not use any form of animal derived ingredients in their products. Believe it or not, common natural ingredients such as honey, beeswax, yoghurt, collagen, gelatin & squalene are all derived from animals.
At Yindi we chose to be Vegan, as we strongly believe that Mother Nature has all the ingredients that we need to nourish our bodies. As a clinical pharmacist who works closely with Australian certified formulators to curate our products, I carefully select our ingredients from the abundant options of plant-based ingredients that are clinically proven to be equally or more effective that animal derived ingredients. As a green, cruelty free and sustainable brand, being Vegan was our way of making sure that no animal or ecosystem suffers to produce Yindi’s products.
Vegan skincare is ;
- Kinder to animals
Vegan skincare assures you that an animal was not killed or exploited to yield a substance that you get to put on your body for your benefit. You can use vegan skincare with clear conscience as all ingredients are derived from plants or synthetically produced using plant-based substances.
- Better for the planet
Vegan skincare brands opt for more eco-friendly options through sustainable sourcing of ingredients. It also reduces greenhouse gas emission produced by livestock farming.
- Better for sensitive skin
Vegan skincare poses lower risk of skin allergic reactions as they are not animal-derived ingredients. A person allergic to bee stings maybe more prone to experiencing skin allergies to skincare products with honey or beeswax. Vegan skincare also generally leans towards clean beauty which means they do not contain ingredients or harsh chemicals that can potentially trigger an allergic reaction.
4. Rich in vitamins and antioxidants
Vegan skincare formulations that are plant based often bring a dose of vitamin & antioxidant goodness that help fight free radical damage for healthy skin renewal and maintaining well-nourished skin. Plant based ingredients such as Australian Kakadu Plum, Bulgarian Rose, Prickly Pear Seed, Marine Algae, Aloe vera, Tea tree are rich in vitamins B, C, and E, which assist in cell regeneration, thus keeping your skin looking young and vibrant.
Vegan Skincare is Cruelty Free as well?
Vegan skincare refers to products that contain no animal-derived ingredients whilst Cruelty-free skincare refers to products that have not been tested on animals. This means that the ingredients and finished products have not been subjected to any kind of animal testing, making them more ethical and compassionate.
It's important to note that a product can be vegan and still be tested on animals, and vice versa. Therefore, it's essential to check that your Vegan skincare product is also cruelty free. At Yindi Naturals, our formulation team conduct thorough due diligence to ensure all our ingredients and products are vegan & cruelty free. We also do not test our products on animals during our R&D phase. In fact, we invest a portion of our sales in reforestation efforts in Borneo & turtle conservation initiatives in East Coast Malaysia.
